The Michigan Strategic Fund approved incentives for the following projects:
Circuit Controls Corporation, a manufacturer of automotive electrical terminals, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based Yazaki Corporation. The company is planning to expand its manufacturing facility in Bear Creek Township (Emmet County) in order to support new business. The project will result in the creation of 36 jobs and a capital investment of up to $21.7 million, resulting in a $180,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Circuit Controls Corporation is Yazaki Corporation?s only manufacturing facility in the state of Michigan. This investment along with the state?s support helps to ensure the long-term viability of the company?s continued expansion in Bear Creek Township. The township has offered a tax abatement estimated at $719,000.
North American Lighting, Inc., headquartered in Illinois, manufactures automotive lighting equipment. The company has had an engineering and sales facility in Michigan since 1983 and plans to lease a larger facility and expand engineering and sales operations in the City of Farmington Hills. The project will generate up to $6.8 million and create a total of 76 new jobs, resulting in a $300,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen over competing sites in Alabama and Illinois. The City of Farmington Hills has offered a property tax abatement related to the project.
