GRAND RAPIDS – West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum will honor the three professionals and three students that demonstrate the most innovative and inspirational approach to promoting sustainability within their organizations, families or peer groups.

These finalists of the forum?s Third Annual Essay Contest and Eighth Annual Scholarship Competition will have an opportunity to compete for the title of 2014 West Michigan Sustainable Business Fellow and Student Fellow at a championship event judged by a panel of sustainability experts and forum members on Monday, April 14. The student competition will award a total of $6,000 in scholarships.

To Enter: Submit a 500-700 word essay or 3-minute video that answers the question: ?How Do You Inspire Others to Be More Sustainable?? Online entry form available at the bottom of this page. Videos must be hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. Deadline for entries is March 14.

Finalist Event: Three finalists in each category will be chosen to present their work at a luncheon event on Monday, April 14, where a panel of judges will ask each to present their ideas and defend them against common barriers to sustainability. Winners will be announced at the end of the event.

Future Green Leaders Scholarship Awards: Each of the three finalists will receive a $1,000 scholarship. An additional $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to the 2014 West Michigan Sustainable Business Student Fellow for a total prize of $4,000. Competition open to students in any field of study at any of the accredited universities and colleges in Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon Counties.

Finalists and their families will also be honored at a reception the week prior to the event. Finalists will be notified by March 22.
