BLOOMFIELDS HILLS – Four startups
will pitch their companies to potential investors on June 8 at the next meeting
of the Great Lakes Angels. Attendance is limited to qualified investors and
members.
The startups are:
Armune BioScience, www.armune.com
Armune
BioScience is a medical diagnostic company that has developed, validated and is
now marketing Apfiny, the only prostate cancer specific, non-PSA blood test
available in the world. PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) is currently used to
guide clinical decisions, but an elevated PSA value may be prostate cancer or
could be the result of an infection, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or
some other condition. This leads to unnecessary referrals from primary care to
urologists, unnecessary prostate biopsies, and needless stress and anxiety for
patients. Apifiny addresses these PSA
shortcomings.
Detroit Bikes, http://detroitbikes.com/
Detroit
Bike’s mission is to encourage cycling by making an accessible, enjoyable
bicycle while continuing Detroit’s legacy of quality manufacturing and design. Detroit Bikes are built in a city with
manufacturing prowess and deep traditions of bicycle production, touring, recreational
riding, commuting, and racing. We are located on Detroit’s west side at 13639
Elmira Street. In our 50,000 square-foot factory we have the capacity to
produce 100 bicycles a day, marking the return of high-volume US frame
manufacturing.
Towel Tracker, http://toweltracker.com
Towel
Tracker is a high technology inventory management solution that helps resorts,
fitness centers, hospitals, and laundries prevent the theft of towels, linens,
and medical scrubs by integrating RFID technology into each item. Utilizing a patented dispensing unit, Towel
Tracker matches individual towels and scrubs to guest ID’s. Unreturned items can be automatically charged
to the user. Towel Tracker customers
benefit from our inventory management technology with lower towel theft rates,
reduced housekeeping hours, lower laundry costs, cleaner facilities, and
business intelligence to better manage their towel service.
Vayu, http://www.vayu.us
Vayu
designs and manufactures UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) that will revolutionize
last mile transportation of goods around the world. Our product not only can
cut by more than half the cost of transporting medicines and essential supplies
to rural areas of the developing world but also is an efficient solution to
serve the growing demand of same-hour delivery in high income countries. Vayu’s
UAV can carry a 2 kg (4.4 lbs.) payload up to 60.
