STERLING HEIGHTS – Entrepreneurs with interest in small business resources, including potential funding, are invited on Sept. 24 to participate in BOOST! Macomb, a pitch competition hosted by the MidMichigan Innovation Center and the Macomb-OU INCubator.
Up to 20 contestants will have two minutes to pitch their idea, product, service or business before a panel of judges and an audience of experienced entrepreneurs and business support professionals. Presenters will receive constructive feedback to strengthen pitches.
This free event, set for 5 to 8 p.m. at the Macomb-OU INCubator, will include an overview of alternative capital options for entrepreneurs along with the presentations. The incubator is located in the Velocity building at 6633 Eighteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights.
“BOOST! is a kinder version of SharkTank without the cameras or commercials,” said Chris Moultrup, programs director of the MMIC.
The top two winners will receive membership with the MMIC and access to valuable small-business resources such as funding need reviews, assistance bringing a new product or service to market and sales strategies.
Additionally, the Macomb-OU INCubator will gift the top two winners:
a one-year I-Hub membership;
a free assessment with Wayne Blizman, Mac-OU INC’s Senior Advisor of Commercialization;
a coaching session with Mac-OU INC Executive-in-Residence Advicoach of Michigan;
a CPA consulting session with Mac-OU INC Executive-in-Residence BiancoCPA;
and 90 minutes of consultation with Mac-OU INC Executive-in-Residence Butzel Long.
The winners may also get an invitation to present directly to the BlueWater Angels of Midland and the Northern Michigan Angels of Traverse City, where the entrepreneur will have extended time and the use of visual aids to present for funding consideration.
“The BlueWater Angels rely on BOOST! Michigan as an important vehicle to find new investment opportunities while providing companies with critical feedback and links to support resources in the region that are often more valuable than investment alone,” said Ken Kousky, president of BlueWater Angels and CEO of the MMIC.
BOOST! Macomb is hosted and sponsored by the MMIC, Macomb-OU INCubator, Twisted Rooster and Blue Water Angels. BOOST! Michigan and other events provided by MMIC are made possible by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Michigan Strategic Fund.
