LANSING – The Prima Civitas Foundation is partnering with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to sponsor a Diversification Summit, aimed at providing area automotive suppliers with key strategies for diversifying their business in four high-demand sectors: Aerospace Manufacturing, Defense and Government Contracts, Medical Devices, and Wind/Renewable Energy.
The summit, scheduled for March 18 at the Lansing Center, is a collaborative effort of regional non-profits and economic developers designed to stimulate new products and services from some of this region??s key employers.
Throughout the day attendees will hear presentations from experts in these four high-demand fields on how best to diversify one??s product base in this ever-changing economy. Attendees will also hear information on the general state of their industry and why it is essential to diversify sooner than later.
With funding provided by MEDC, attendees stand eligible to receive $10,000 in grant monies to help with the diversification process if they attend the summit, participate in a survey/questionnaire, and are deemed able to diversify through a follow-up site visit. These grant monies can be used for a multitude of activities to help individual companies cover marketing costs, training programs, or other expenses related to diversification.
??This summit, and others like it across the state, will provide a great opportunity for local auto suppliers to hear about real and substantive methods to diversify their product? said David Hollister, President & CEO of the Prima Civitas Foundation. ??Together with our regional partners, this is one step towards creating the new economy of Michigan that we all know is so desperately needed.?
