YPSILANTI – University of Michigan Finance Professor David Brophy, who has been running his Michigan Growth Capital Symposium for 30 years, also has been saying for about the same length of time that as long as the auto industry was doing great in Michigan, the state’s economy would never become entrepreneur friendly.
Now that the auto industry is struggling for its life, Brophy contends the state legislature and economic development officials will be forced to make the changes necessary to once again make Michigan a haven for entrepreneurs and investors, much like it was when the auto industry was born a century ago.
