TROY – Nominations
for the automotive industry award to recognize achievements in vehicle
lightweighting has been extended to June 26.
Sponsored by Altair and the Center for
Automotive Research (CAR), the judging committee, comprised of industry and
academia thought leaders, elected to extend the nomination deadline to allow
pending and interested suppliers and OEMs additional time to complete their
entries for the 2015 Altair
Enlighten Award. Now in its third year, this award is the automotive
industry’s only award program created specifically to acknowledge innovations
in vehicle lightweighting, essential to improving fuel economy and performance.
“As the time for entries to be submitted drew near, several companies reached
out to us requesting more time,” said Dave Mason, VP of Global Automotive at
Altair. “Since the awards are not until August, we saw no reason not to prolong
the entry period and boost the competition for the award.”
The Altair Enlighten Award provides a platform to showcase advancements in
automotive design, materials and processes allowing companies and organizations
to be recognized by their peers for elite performance achievements in the area
of lightweighting. The award is intended to recognize these achievements
annually; to inspire interest from policymakers, educators, students and the
public; to create further competition for new ideas in the industry; and to
provide an incentive to share technological advances.
Finalists will be selected in July, with the winners announced in August at the
50th annual CAR Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City.
