TROY – Deniella
Ortiz-Lalain has been elected president of the Association for Women in
Communications Detroit Chapter.
Director of
Communications for OpTech, LLC, Ortiz-Lalain has been a dedicated AWC member
since January of 2012, serving the 77-year-old organization as Matrix co-chair
for two consecutive years and most recently as its immediate vice president of
programs.
A Troy
resident, Ortiz-Lalain saidshe looks forward to continuing to implement
strategies for presenting AWC Detroit as the premier organization for women who
connect with the community and the world at every stage of their careers.
“AWC Detroit
represents the changing face of communications in all areas of expertise. We
will reflect that in the year ahead as we offer educational programs and
networking events that will give AWC Detroit members opportunities to learn
from one another and explore new trends,” said Ortiz-Lalain.
The
organization was recognized with a Chapter Excellence Award from the AWC
national organization for two consecutive years. The Detroit chapter was also
honored for significantly growing its membership during 2014.
Other
returning board members are: Laura Oliveto of Meeting Coordinators, AWC Detroit
immediate past president – now assuming the role as vice president of programs;
Allison LaRose of GP Strategies, AWC Detroit vice president of marketing;
Catherine Ticer of Brilliance Marketing, AWC Detroit vice president of public
relations; and Marcia Danner of Danner Editorial Services, serving as AWC
Detroit vice president of membership.
Two new
members were elected to the 2015 – 2016 board: AWC Detroit Treasurer Maisha
Maurant of Health Alliance Plan of Michigan and AWC Detroit Board Secretary
Andrea Zarczynski of the Detroit Athletic Club.
