ANN ARBOR – BioArbor, the new educational networking forum for the life sciences industry in the greater Ann Arbor area, will host its second program on August 15 called Strategic Corporate Legal and Patent Issues for Early Stage Life Science Companies.

Presenting will be Stephen M. Davis, Co-Chair of the Firmwide Corporate/VLG Practice Group and Chair of the New York Business Practice, Heller Ehrman, and William R. Boudreaux, an intellectual property expert with the Ann Arbor office of Chicago-based patent law firm, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione.

Davis will focus on the seven legal keys to starting and structuring a successful enterprise to maximize the likelihood of obtaining necessary venture funding to position a start-up company for success. His presentation will cover

topics such as building the team, structuring the company and legal concerns regarding the funding.

Bordreaux will instruct attendees on how to construct and manage patent portfolios economically, including identifying

and building an Intellectual Property Portfolio, avoiding common problems in patent prosecution, enforcing an IP Portfolio, and budgeting.

The first hour of the BioArbor program is devoted to networking with other life sciences professionals with the presentations to follow. Appetizers and beverages will be served.
