BIRMINGHAM ? BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti, the featured speaker next month at The Adcraft Club of Detroit, will tell his story on how he launched the company that tracks viral content and make things people want to share.
?We?re proud to continually offer our members access to some of the world?s leading thinkers and doers,? Adcraft President and Senior Vice President, Head of Digital for Carat Phil Rzepka said. ?BuzzFeed has made significant contributions to how people create, share and consume media, and we?re looking forward to learning from Jonah.?
Rzepka said Detroit is the center of the world?s auto industry and Peretti wanted to come here to tell his story.
?There?s a big transition going on in how content is structured to compete for consumers? attention,? Rzepka said. ?It?s much different from traditional 30-second spots. BuzzFeed is really good at this so this represents an opportunity for us all to learn how they do what they do.?
Peretti founded BuzzFeed in 2006. Under his leadership, the company has grown to more than 600 people worldwide, 150 million monthly unique visitors with editors creating shareable entertaining lists and reporters covering everything from politics to long-form features and international news. BuzzFeed has also pioneered social content marketing to build shareable campaigns for the world’s leading brands.
Before BuzzFeed, Peretti experimented with viral projects and studied how information and ideas spread through the web. Peretti is a graduate of the MIT Media Lab and has taught at New York University and Parsons The New School for Design.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $35 for Adcraft members, $45 for non-members and $25 for junior and student members. Those interested in attending should register online at Adcraft.Org
