WINDSOR, Ontario – Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper vented frustration at the owners of the Ambassador Bridge for opposing a new government-led bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.

In Windsor on Monday, Harper said the Morouns are wrong to think they own the entire right to public crossings between Detroit and Windsor, CBC reported.

“This is the biggest single corridor of trade in the world and the concept that somebody could claim that he privately owns it all is, to me, ludicrous but to some degree that is the situation we’re dealing with,” Harper said.

CBC reported that Harper was asked why he the Canadian government continues to work with Michigan and has not instead approached the administration of President Barack Obama about intervening. Harper said the Canadian government wants to deal with Michigan first.
