MOUNT PLEASANT – This Friday, $45,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the Central Michigan University student teams who submit the top three winning business concepts in the New Venture Competition.

24 teams are participating in the competition, which began last October. The students, from multiple academic disciplines, will present their business plans to be judged by senior-level investors and industry leaders, including Michael Finney, CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

?Students will actually spend the lion?s share this year preparing a business plan, and then they?ll pitch it before a team of judges who will review it,? said Charles Crespy, dean of CMU?s College of Business Administration. ?Some of them are venture capitalists, some angel investors, some just business experts who will look at the viability of the plan and ultimately declare a winner.?
