DETROIT – On October 23, Challenge Detroit, an urban revitalization program focused on attracting and retaining talent in Detroit, will officially launch its second year with 32 new Challenge Detroit Fellows during a celebration at DTE Energy’s headquarters in the heart of the city.
Challenge Detroit is a yearlong Fellowship that provides tomorrow?s leaders with opportunities to live, work, play, give and lead in Detroit. These 32 individuals spend four days a week working at leading companies, while spending the fifth day of the week partnering with area non-profits to address some of the region?s issues and opportunities, including multi-modal transportation, homelessness and community art.
The celebration, keynoted by Ron A. May, senior vice president of major enterprise projects at DTE Energy, will bring together Challenge Detroit?s 31 host companies, eight non-profit partners, inaugural and current Fellows, along with numerous supporters who have made the program possible.
?Last year, we knew if we could bring people to Detroit and show them what was possible, they would stay and make a difference, and they are. More than 90 percent of Challenge Detroit?s inaugural class is staying in Detroit,? said Deirdre Greene Groves. ?We?re excited to build upon this foundation with 32 new fellows, who we know will continue to make an impact in the community.?
