AUBURN HILLS – CJPS Healthcare Supplies & Equipment Thursday announced a new agreement to provide 33,000 units of its remote patient monitor VitalPoint to groups of visiting physicians in the United States. The contract is valued at more than $100 million.
VitalPoint is a standalone 4.5-pound device that can monitor blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, pulse rate, weight, glucose level, prothrombin time and ratios, temperature, fluid status, and provide electrocardiogram data, and provides the caregiver with the ability to remotely monitor patients? conditions using their own computer, iPad, or cell phone.
CJPS claims its devices will reduce the overall cost of health care by providing better care, by acting as an early warning system to help detect signs of complications early on.
The company says studies show eight out of 10 older adults are living with one or more chronic diseases ? defined as those that are long lasting, incurable, or recurrent. For these patients, prevention of reoccurrence and health monitoring are critical to their recovery, safety and quality of life, for which remote patient monitoring devices such as VitalPoint, have been shown to be extremely effective. They can help patients slow progression of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and end-stage renal disease.
CJPS manufactures its products in an FDA-registered, ISO-13485 certified plant in Auburn Hills. It took over the development of several health care products that were originally developed by a division of Delphi that Sevrain formerly led.
