TROY ? Commercializing Corporate Innovation kicks off Tuesday at Automation Alley’s Headquarters in Troy, putting a new spin on the entrepreneurial training series presented by CompanyCrafters over the past three years.

CompanyCrafters Founding Partner Jim Price, who also is an adjunct lecturer of Entrepreneurial Studies at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, said the new wrinkle will look at how corporations can commercialize innovations that may now be languishing on back room shelves.

?We?ve been working for the past year with established mature companies on finding technology nuggets that have the potential to create new businesses, but don?t currently fit within the parent company,? Price said. ?Large companies, because of how they are run and managed, have forgotten how to start a business from scratch.?

Price said starting Tuesday, CompanyCrafters will teach corporations how to launch companies through the corporate umbrella.
