GRAND RAPIDS – The Michigan chapter of Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America will present its Take Steps Grand Rapids Walk fundraiser on May 7 at Grand Valley State University’s Allendale campus.

The event begins at 5 p.m. with registration/check-in, the walk starts at 6 p.m.. Take Steps Grand Rapids will feature a Kid?s Corral, stage and talent presentations, live music, a festival site filled with fun and games, the Sponsor?s Row where sponsors meet and greet event participants, a participant snack bag, plus specialty entertainment along the walk route.

The walk is family friendly, with the purpose of supporting a cure for Crohn?s and Colitis with a one or a three mile loop; participants select the length of their walk.

The Take Steps Walks have named Honored Heroes for each event, these individuals have displayed outstanding courage in dealing with these devastating digestive diseases, the Youth Honored Hero is Cole B. of Allendale, and the Adult Honored Hero is Teri Losey of Grandville. The walk chair is Justin Gray of Frankenmuth, and Grand Valley State University student.

Take Steps is sponsored by the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, the Grandville Best Buy and Abbott Pharmaceuticals. The event has a media partnership with Radio Disney. Sponsorships are still available for the walk.

Take Steps for Crohn?s and Colitis is CCFA?s national evening walk and celebration. Participants enjoy a causal stroll and raise funds for crucial research. Participants are encouraged to create a team of walkers and to raise funds for patient care, patient education and research.
