GRAND RAPIDS ? It’s amazing how many cyber threats predicted in the cyber crime novella Cyber Styletto have become today’s headlines. That’s why co-author Mike Brennan, Editor & Publisher of MITechNews.Com, will be serializing the book over the next 12 weeks.

?We want to share our predictions made in the summer of 2011 with our readers,? Brennan said. ?Everything from hardware Trojans, to Chinese cyber espionage, to Russian super hackers wrecking havoc on the Internet, to Iranian cyberwarfare against the United States are contained within the pages of Cyber Styletto.?

Cyber Styletto is a 35,000 word novella created by Brennan and noted Birmingham cyber security expert Richard Stiennon. Novelist Gian DeTorre was hired to make the story read more like a novel than a white paper on cyber crime.

Here?s the plot synopsis:

A malicious computer network attack on a traffic management system in California causes the deaths of eight innocent people. Yvonne Tran, a former black hat computer hacker now working as a contractor for a government agency called CyberCom, is called in to investigate. Her handler and former lover, Rohan Stokes, and executives at Network Systems, the California manufacturer that designed the computer server, have no idea how the system could have been commandeered so completely, or how many other critical systems have been infiltrated. Tran and her team ? composed of former military Special Forces and civilian computer experts ? must pinpoint the location where the probe originated, and stop the perpetrators before they launch a much bigger attack on Christmas Day aimed at killing thousands of Americans.
