DETROIT ARSENAL, WARREN – Registration is now open for the National Defense Industrial Association Michigan Chapter’s first Ground Vehicle Systems Engineering and Technology Symposium to be held Aug. 18-20, in Troy at the Detroit Arsenal. The Detroit Arsenal is partnered with Automation Alley.
The event’s theme – Rapidly Transforming Ground Vehicle Technologies: Providing Superior Capabilities for the Warfighter Today and Tomorrow – highlights how the Department of Defense?s Ground Systems Enterprise is engaging government, industry and academia on the latest developments in ground vehicle systems engineering and technology and to learn what technical capabilities are being sought in the private sector.
The Michigan Chapter is hosting the event to present advanced technology opportunities and solutions to a broad audience of defense industry, government and military representatives. The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) is a major participant in the symposium that will focus on the exchange of information through formal presentations, technical papers and an interchange of views within the Systems Engineering and Technology communities.
The conference will consist of a 1.5-day main session with National-level speakers and the next 1.5 days will have five mini-symposiums. Confirmed main session speakers include:

Each mini-symposium will have its own architecture, including speakers, paper presentations and working discussions and topics include:
Power and Energy -The theme is Energy Efficiency Today, Tomorrow and Beyond Tomorrow, and the sessions will include topics such as energy efficiency, batteries, and power and thermal management (micro-grid).
Robotic Systems – This session will address key life cycle and technical challenges for current and future fielded robotic systems. The challenges will be grouped into four categories: perception and intelligence, command and control, platforms and payloads, and sustainability and systems engineering.
Modeling and Simulation (M&S), Testing and Validation – This session will address current developments in M&S technology as applied to military ground vehicle systems engineering in several application domains, including performance, durability and reliability, mobility, thermal modeling, distributed simulation, optimization, testing and validation.
Survivability – Due to its classified nature, this session will be held at a government facility to be announced later.

Vehicle Electronics and Architecture – This seminar will address areas such as Condition-Based Maintenance Plus; Emerging Trends in Software and Hardware Architecture for Military Ground Vehicles; and Networks and Battle Command.
