TROY ? The Detroit Auto Dealers Association has developed a new app that features photos of vehicles at the North American International Auto Show, but also at other major shows in Paris, Geneva, Frankfurt, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo and beyond.
NAIAS Chairman Bob Shuman says Auto Show Passport app will answer a common question: ‘What are auto shows like in other parts of the world?’
“That question is inevitable,” said Shuman. “Because I’ve had the opportunity to visit other great shows in Europe and Asia, I’m usually able to answer the question. But, now, Auto Show Passport will provide people with the feel of what it’s like to be a part of the excitement from the auto show floor in Paris, or Geneva, or Beijing, and so on.”
Shuman adds that Auto Show Passport will also include show descriptions, local color and cultural information about auto show host cities.
“That’s partly why we named the App ‘Auto Show Passport,’ because it’ll enable people through their smart devices to travel virtually to different auto shows, and get a feel for other countries while doing so,” he said.
App developers say new features and enhancements are expected to be added in 2014 to provide even more functionality to Auto Show Passport’s ecosphere. Also, visitors to the upcoming NAIAS will be able to submit their own photos, some of which will be selected for the “User-Submitted Gallery” on Auto Show Passport.
Auto Show Passport is being sponsored initially by Michelin North America and Delphi Automotive. Additional sponsors are expected to join in the coming months.
NAIAS has partnered with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Automotive Industry Committee (CCPIT), which hosts China’s three major auto shows in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai to launch the Chinese version of the App in China during the Guangzhou auto show.
