DETROIT – The Detroit Edison Co., trying to meet state renewable energy requirements, is looking for proposals from providers of renewable energy. On Tuesday, Edison issued two requests for proposals.
The first RFP seeks potential partners for the development of one or more Michigan-based wind farms that can produce up to 75 megawatts of new wind power.
The wind farms would need to be operating by Dec. 31, 2011. Detroit Edison would take ownership of the developments, upon their completion.
The utility also has issued an RFP seeking long-term agreements to purchase capacity, energy or renewable energy credits associated with resources such as wind, solar, landfill gas and biomass.
“This is a major step forward in Detroit Edison??s plan to meet the state’s renewable energy targets,” said Trevor Lauer, vice president of retail marketing at Edison parent DTE Energy Co., in a news release.
“These RFPs will enable us to add more than 180 megawatts of homegrown renewable energy to our portfolio and??encourage the development of new green energy projects located right here in Michigan.”
