TROY – Detroit Labs was named Technology Company of the Year at the 14th annual Automation Alley Gala last Friday at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit.

Entrepreneur of the Year (sponsored by Foster Swift Collins & Smith) was David Wang and Ronny Chiang of BEET Analytics Technology.

This year?s Awards Gala featured a special video presentation featuring important figures from Automation Alley history to honor the organization?s 15th anniversary, as well as remarks from Master of Ceremonies Cindy Pasky, CEO of Strategic Staffing Solutions; David Hay, senior director of the office of the executive chairman and chairman of the board at Kelly Services, Inc.; Doug Smith, senior vice president of strategic partnerships and government affairs for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; and Automation Alley Executive Director Ken Rogers.

?It?s an exciting time to be in business in Southeast Michigan. More than any time in recent history, being a business owner means having the opportunity to make a significant impact on the surrounding community, the quality of life in our region, and our reputation around the world,? Rogers said to the sold-out crowd of 400 attendees. ?That opportunity is spurring the creation of new businesses in our area, startups that are seeking not only to turn a profit but also to make their mark on the landscape of metro Detroit.?

Award winners were chosen based on a combined score, which took both a public online vote and the votes of the new Luminary Committee into consideration. The Luminary Committee was comprised of a group of regional leaders.
