DETROIT ? There?s a new audio podcast program aimed at women who work in technology and as entrepreneurs. It?s called Digital Divas. The program made its debut in late February.

The Digital Divas hope to fill a gap in groups and organizations that support women in technology. Studies show the greatest strength of innovation today is diversity, yet only 26 percent of the U.S. computer workforce jobs are held by women. The bottom line is that technology is relevant to every woman today.

The Digital Divas podcast series will focus on capturing the stories of women in technology as well as discussing hot new technology topics.

?Over time, there will be a library of personal experiences that can be shared,? said Nicole Johnson, an engineer at Cisco, who helped create Digital Divas. Johnson also covers Science, Technology, Math and Engineering (STEM) for MITechNews.Com.

Johnson said the Digital Divas, “believe if you can see I.T, you can be I.T” Adding: ?I am so happy to be able to work with two very talented peers to create something valuable for the community. I wanted to find people with different experience and realms of influence that could share my common goal. The Divas are looking forward to great things already in our first year thanks to great support from community partners.?

Johnson recruited two more Digital Divas; Kathleen Norton-Schock and Amanda Lewan. Norton-Schock is the well-connected, Baby Boomer of the group with more than 30 years? experience in technology. She is the Co-Founder of ardentCause L3C, which provides online solutions for using data, to achieve better outcomes, to foundations, funders, nonprofits, collaborations and schools.

Norton-Schock also has served as an executive for many high profile technology companies throughout her career. She has years of experience supporting technology non-profits like the Michigan Council for Women in Technology (MCWT).

Norton-Schock explained how Digital Divas supports her passion: ?One of my, personal, constant missions over many years has been to attract, promote and celebrate women in technology – for a LOT of reasons – not the least of which is a selfish reason. I have first hand experience with the better results achieved by diverse teams and I am thrilled to be a part of this team.?

The third member of the Digital Divas is Amanda Lewan the Co-Founder of Bamboo Detroit, a co-working space in downtown Detroit. As the editor of MIchiprenuer.com, Lewan has strong ties to the entrepreneurial community and has a passion for storytelling. She thrives on helping grow a creative, connected community of entrepreneurs in Detroit.

“We’re excited to help share stories that will inspire all women to really embrace themselves and achieve great things,” she said. ?Digital Divas is about embracing yourself and learning from other strong and talented woman. Detroit is known for its perseverance and woman especially are a large part of the current rebuilding effort. I can’t wait to uncover more inspiring stories from women in technology.?

The Digital Divas are based in metro Detroit, but they hope their positive impact will have no limits. Digital Divas is setting a new standard on how to mentor young professional women by hiring an intern to manage their Twitter feed.

The Digital Divas hope to open the door of opportunity for women in Southeast Michigan to discover they too can have a career in technology and build a better community for women in the field. Digital Divas wants to communicate their message that it is good for the technology sector to become more diverse and increase the number of women professionals in STEM.

The Digital Divas already have lined up a number of great speakers, hot topics, and fascinating industry stories that will be aired in podcasts this year.
