DETROIT ? DTE Energy and NextEnergy are partnering with the Engineering Society of Detroit to recognize and support energy efficiency technology innovation for its commercial, light industrial, and municipal electric customers through the DTE Energy E-Challenge for Energy Efficiency.

This year?s competition seeks innovative energy efficiency technology demonstration opportunities in advanced lighting. The E-Challenge encourages demonstration projects that integrate energy efficiency solutions through collaborations, bring under-utilized energy efficiency products to the DTE Electric service area, or accelerate the commercialization of Michigan-based energy technologies.

The 2nd Annual DTE Energy E-challenge for Energy Efficiency will showcase advanced lighting technology demonstrations by two Farmington Hills-based companies: Illuminating Concepts and Lumecon.

Illuminating Concepts will feature its Intellistreets technology on the upper deck of the South Lafayette parking structure in Royal Oak while Lumecon will demonstrate several LED light control systems at the Detroit Zoo.

At each demonstration site, a team from Lawrence Technological University will measure and validate energy usage data to confirm that each project meets the energy savings outcomes proposed by each company. Winners that achieve energy savings goals will be announced at the Energy Conference & Exhibition 2014 on May 6th, followed by a panel discussion featuring each company.

Stay tuned for more updates and links to real time energy usage data.
