DETROIT – Wayne State University will host an entrepreneurship and excellence symposium, E2detroit, this October to bring together business minds and students interested in entrepreneurship for a two-day conference that will feature some of Michigan?s top business leaders.

E2detroit 2007 will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions,

workshops, networking, the E2adventure competition, and a cocktail

reception focused on building the small business community in

Michigan, especially in Detroit.

Workshops will include topics such as: Marketing Mad Science, Entrepreneurs in their 20’s, Bizdom U, Legal entities and issues involved in raising capital, federal grants, Michigan’s entrepreneurial resources, prototyping, solutions to small businesses problems, health care and employee benefits, internet marketing strategies, and intellectual property, patents and trademarks.

Attendees will hear keynote addresses on

various topics impacting small business and the investment community from

Dennis Archer (Dickinson Wright), Kim Lavine (Green Daisy, Inc.), Florine

Mark (The Weight Watcher Group, Inc.) and Dan Mulhern (Office of the

Governor). Speakers and panelists will also include some of the most

influential entrepreneurs in a variety of fields including Wayne State

University alumni, Paul Glantz (Emagine Entertainment), Jane Sydlowski (AMI

Strategies), Raj Vattikuti (Covansys), Paul Schaap (Lumigen) and Terrence

Carmichael (GeneTree).

The two-day symposium will also include the E2adventure student

competition — Detroit’s own “Apprentice.” Student teams will compete in

creating the most marketable product on the WSU campus. Over the course of

the day, student teams, with the help of one faculty member and one venture

capitalist, and $100 seed money will be challenged to put their knowledge

into practice. Teams will be evaluated on units sold and other key criteria

by our expert judges. The most successful teams will leave with valuable

prizes, while every student will go home with an unrivaled experience.

A networking cocktail reception that is open to the public will be held

on October 2nd from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at the Wayne State University

MacGregor Atrium. Symposium registration is $195 for businesses, and $25

for students. Registration for the networking cocktail reception only is

$30.
