ROCHESTER – Rochester will again host one of the planet’s largest Earth Day celebrations in April when the MI Earth Day Fest returns for the ninth consecutive year.

This year, the event will move from a grass lot, two blocks from Main Street, to downtown streets. Event organizers, MI Green Team, requested the move to improve the event’s grounds, visibility and proximity to downtown and parking. They are planning for continued improvement in attendance after a low point two years ago due to road construction.

?A green-living event has become one of the highlights of the spring in Rochester and we are very happy to have it return,? said City Manager Jaymes Vettraino. ?It is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to come and enjoy our beautiful downtown.?

The three-day festival will highlight the green and healthy-living efforts of area businesses and community groups. It will feature over 150 exhibits, displays, presentations, and performances, as well as door prizes, healthy concessions and activities for all ages. Special events will include a ceremony recognizing winners of the USGBC-Detroit’s My Green School Art Contest and the 2014 MI Green Hall of Fame awards. Admission and parking are free.
