DETROIT- The Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center is resuming its Entrepreneurial Series training program at Wayne State University’s TechTown after a hiatus in 2010.

These courses assist small business owners in evaluating their business ideas, building implementation plans and effectively growing their businesses. Displaced workers, early buyouts and early retirements have created a new opportunity for small businesses to start and flourish in throughout the state.

?The courses we provide are vital to the success of growing businesses and to start-up companies,? said Wendy Thomas, regional director of the MI-SBTDC office in TechTown. ?We are excited to be offering these classes at TechTown once again. We also offer follow-up individual counsel at no cost to the participants as their businesses grow.?

The Entrepreneurial Series consists of the following courses:

? Fundamentals of Starting a Business

? Fundamentals of Writing a Business Plan

? Fundamentals of Marketing Your Business

? Fundamentals of Finance

? Fundamentals of Business Legal Issues

? Pre-Business Research

The courses, which run 2-3 hours, are presented by experienced business professionals or current small business owners with pertinent expertise. These workshops are designed for those looking to start a new business or those in the early stages of a business launch that need specific assistance.

Register online or call (313) 967-9295. The classes are held in TechTown, located at 440 Burroughs Street, Detroit.

?The MI-SBTDC courses offer practical realistic approaches to business issues faced by both new and existing entrepreneurs,? said Pat Salo, certified MI-SBTDC trainer.

In 2010, the MI-SBTDC trained 7000 small business owners and entrepreneurs in 600 training courses, representing training delivered in 83 counties throughout the state.
