TROY ? John Bedz, formerly of Michigan Small Tech and “Small Times” magazine, has joined Automation Alley to improve the SBIR federal grants issued through the National Automotive Center.
Bedz will work with TARDEC personnel within the NAC to analyze the SBIR program and develop a strategy for improving the success rate of the SBIR program over a twelve month time period.
Late last year, Automation Alley received a contract from the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center and the National Automotive Center to provide an analysis of the Small Business Innovation Research program and to propose a strategy for improving the commercialization of SBIR technologies.
The SBIR program is a highly competitive program that encourages small business to explore their technological potential and provides the incentive to profit from its commercialization. The program funds the critical startup and development stages and it encourages the commercialization of technologies, products, and/or services.
Bedz will attempt to improve how the NAC commercializes its research technologies.
