GRAND RAPIDS – The West Michigan Strategic Alliance has named

Ken Freestone full-time Green Infrastructure Project Manager. Freestone had been interim project manager since January.

Freestone had the full support of the Green Infrastructure Leadership Council, a group of 30 individuals representing various organizations and interests from the eight-county West Michigan region who are leading the collaborative effort.

�??Ken�??s full-time appointment continues the WMSA/GILC commitment to

implementing our 25-year vision for green infrastructure, a critical component of our quality of life in West Michigan,�?� said Greg Northrup, WMSA President

The Green Infrastructure Initiative mission is to encourage regional collaboration and translate best practices in green infrastructure planning to decision-makers and communities, creating, enhancing and protecting a sustainable green infrastructure network throughout West Michigan.

The West Michigan Strategic Alliance serves as a catalyst for regional collaboration among the businesses, institutions and governmental units serving more than 1.3 million people living in a eight-county region including: Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo and Ottawa.
