ANN ARBOR ? Fusion Coolant Systems of Ypsilanti won the $5000 first prize in the Emerging Companies category of the fall 2010 Great Lakes Entrepreneurs Quest business plan competition Monday night at the Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship at Ann Arbor Skyline High School.
Fusion Coolant is developing next-generation metalworking fluids for machining and metal forming. The company also won a presenting slot at May?s Michigan Growth Capital Symposium.
Second prize and $3,000 went to ArborWind LLC, developing next-generation vertical axis wind turbines.
Third prize and $2000 went to MitoStem. The company is using various protein delivery methods to make the next generation of induced pluripotential stem cells more efficient.
In the New Business Ideas category, first prize went to Stigma Free of Ann Arbor. The company is developing faster, easier diagnostic materials for sexually transmitted diseases. The cash prize was $2000.
Second prize, and $1,500, went to Local Orbit. While third prize, and $500, was given to Fiscal 8 Rescue of Linden. The company is developing a patent-pending infant and child device for firefighters.
