GRAYLORD – The Gaylord and Grayling Michigan Works! offices have partnered with the Crawford County Economic Development Partnership and the Gaylord /Otsego Chamber of Commerce to bring a new series of 2-hour workshops to Crawford and Otsego Counties. The will be held each Friday and starts Feb. 6.

Each workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on a Friday and will be held at either the Gaylord or Grayling Michigan Works! office. Cost for each session is $5 for members of either the Gaylord/Otsego Chamber of Commerce or the Grayling Regional Chamber. Cost for non-Chamber members is $10 per session.

The series will begin with a 4-week class on February 6, on a topic of interest to business owners and those who may wish to start a business. This workshop, titled ?How to Write Your Business Plan,? will continue on February 13, February 20, and February 27. This 4-week workshop will cost only $5 for Chamber members or $10 for non-Chamber members. All sessions on this topic will be held at the Grayling location. CCEDP Economic Development Director Gaila Gilliland will be the instructor for the business plan classes. The remaining workshops in The Friday Business Series will each be one 2-hour class.

?Time Management? will be presented on March 6 by an M-Tech instructor and will take place in the Gaylord office located. Business Liaisons Kathy Bradley and Kay Cosgray will present ?Using Your One-Stop to Its Fullest? on April 3, at the Grayling facility.

On May 1, a panel will address the timely topic ?Managing Your Business during Stressful Economic Times;? this session will be held at the Gaylord site. Dave Baragrey, Weekly Choice Newspaper, confirmed he will be a panelist for this session.

An instructor from the State of Michigan will address ?Unemployment Insurance? at the Grayling office on June 5. The presentation on August 7 will teach people how they can contract with the government; ?Government Contracting? will be held at Gaylord.

Panelists Randy Seymour from Chemical Bank and Peter Cambier with Northern Initiatives will be joined on September 11, by a representative from the Michigan Certified Development Corporation to address two timely topics for business owners or entrepreneurs: ?Understanding Small Business Financials and Finding Capital for Your Business.? This session will be held in Grayling.

?Worker?s Compensation and Work Opportunity Tax Credit? will be presented on October 2 in Gaylord. Laura Dinon will address the Worker?s Compensation portion.

Business owners and entrepreneurs may be wondering how to take their businesses online. The session, ?Creating Business Opportunities Online ? E-Commerce? will take place in Grayling on November 2; the instructor will be announced at a later date.

Dave Baragrey, Weekly Choice Newspaper, and Joe MacQuarrie, owner of AdVantage Media Services, will tell business owners how to get creative in their marketing efforts. The session titled ?Creative Marketing? will take place on December 4, in Gaylord.

Rounding out a full year, the final workshop in The Friday Business Series will take place on January 8, in Grayling on ?Writing Your Marketing Plan;? the instructor will be announced at a later date.
