ANN ARBOR -The deadline for the Spring Cycle competition at Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest business-plan writing contest is Friday at noon.

Both the New Business Idea and Emerging Com pany teams must submit their entries prior to that time to be considered in this year’s GLEQ Spring Cycle competition.

The awards ceremony for the GLEQ Spring Cycle is scheduled for 6 p.m., May 11 at the Hale Auditorium on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. At the ceremony, winners for the three regions of the New Business Idea path will be announced, as well as the Emerging Company path winner of the $50,000 Quest Grand Prize. Teams must be present at the awards ceremony to win prizes.

Those making the Quest compete in one of two paths held over Spring and Fall Cycles for prizes of cash and in-kind professional services. Participants also receive opportunities to network and receive feedback on their summary or business plan from top professionals, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists in Michigan.

This year’s Quest offers two competitive paths for entrepreneurs based on experience and level of business development: The New Business Ideas path, open to anyone in Michigan, is a business idea competition that includes the creation of a five-page executive summary.

For more advanced companies, the GLEQ is offering an Emerging Companies path resulting in the development of a full business plan and a chance to win the Quest Grand Prize of $50,000. Finalists will deliver a 3-minute pitch at the May 11 award ceremony before being awarded the top prize.
