ANN ARBOR – Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest and MichBio, Michigan’s life science membership organization, held a joint Open House on August 21 at their new location on the fourth floor of the Altarum Building at 3520 Green Court in Ann Arbor.

Diane Durance, executive director of GLEQ and Stephen Rapundalo, president and CEO of MichBio jointly welcomed 200 guests throughout the evening.

Rapundalo announced new programs and benefits for MichBio members, including a new magazine that will be published quarterly by the organization. BioMatters will be the first and only Michigan magazine devoted solely to telling the story of and promoting Michigan’s biosciences community. The first issue will be distributed November 5.

Durance welcomed companies from around the state that had traveled to the Open House, including CPR Mattress and New Dimension Crushers from the Upper Peninsula. She also announced the launch of the ninth year of the GLEQ statewide business plan competition. Registration for the competition is open until October 31 and awards will be presented on January 22.

GLEQ and MichBio are sharing an office suite on the fourth floor of the Altarum building. Altarum is a nonprofit research institute, working to become the nation’s preeminent provider of objective health systems research and solutions. Joining GLEQ and MichBio, is the Michigan Israel Business Bridge (MIBB), a new nonprofit business development organization promoting economic development between Michigan and Israel. Cielo MedSolutions, a growing entrepreneurial provider of healthcare software for ambulatory care providers, occupies a neighboring suite.
