LANSING – Governor Rick Snyder’s first full day on the job Monday included meetings with Budget Director John Nixon and Michael Finney, head of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

Gov. Snyder reiterated in comments on WJR-AM and WWJ-AM that he planned to propose a two-year budget with the goal of having it signed into law by July 1.

According to The Associated Press, Gov. Snyder said at a morning photo availability before his first staff meeting that he had not yet decided what he would do with his salary of $159,300.

Gov. Snyder, as often is the case, wore no tie for his first full day on the job.

“Today’s a no-tie day,” he said on WJR-AM’s “Paul W. Smith” show.

Snyder also said he would be issuing executive orders later this week to split the Department of Natural Resources and Environment back into the DNR and Department of Environmental Quality, as well as changing the name of the Department of Agriculture to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
