GRAND RAPIDS ? Grand Rapids GiveCamp is now accepting applications from West Michigan non-profit organizations to gain free technology services during a weekend-long event this November. The application deadline is October 1.
Through Grand Rapids GiveCamp, non-profit organizations with specific technology needs are matched with local technology professionals who volunteer their time over the course of one weekend to develop free technology services such as new websites, databases, e-newsletter programs, and social media campaigns for their use.
?Each year, we bring together approximately 20 non-profit organizations and 150 technical professionals,? said Ross Hunter, President of GR GiveCamp. ?The average annual value to the non-profit community of the work completed at GiveCamp is $250,000 in donated technology services and resources that these organizations typically would not otherwise receive. With the 2013 event, we expect to surpass $1 million in total donated services since we began holding GiveCamp in Grand Rapids.?
GR GiveCamp is made possible through the dedication and skills of approximately 150 technology professionals per year.
?The non-profits that participate at GR GiveCamp are great organizations and I wanted to help them accomplish their goals,? said Adam DeLong, Software Developer with Elevator Up who volunteered in 2012. ?I had a great time creating a positive impact on these organizations while collaborating with and learning from many different technology and community leaders in the area. The experience was invaluable.?
