LANSING – Though no agreements or business investments were announced, Governor Jennifer Granholm met Wednesday with Jordanian King Abdullah II to discuss how his nation and Michigan could work together on alternative energy and water reuse.

The audience was part of Granholm’s trade mission to Israel and Jordan to attract alternative energy and water conservation companies to the state.

Granholm also met Wednesday with officials from Millenium Energy Industries, a solar energy company in Africa and the Middle East seeking a presence in North America.

“This mission is all about attracting new business investment that will create jobs and grow Michigan’s economy,” Granholm said. “We are meeting with cutting-edge companies doing exciting work in alternative energy, water reuse, and homeland security, and our strategy to diversify Michigan’s economy makes us the right place in North America for them to locate or expand.”

State officials also continued working in Israel on Wednesday to expand on the agreement announced earlier in the week for the two governments to cooperate on developing water and alternative energy technology companies. Those meetings were tied to the CleanTech Conference in Tel Aviv.
