January 26th – Introductory RE Seminars (9 AM – 5 PM)

February 16 – Introductory RE Seminars (9 AM – 5 PM)

Location: Environmental House, 2420 S Industrial Hwy, Ann Arbor

These seminars answer commonly asked questions about different types of renewable energy applications, Solar Water & Space Heating, Solar Electricity and Wind Energy.

February 23 ? Intermediate Solar Heating Seminar (9 AM – 5 PM)

Location: GLREA Energy Demonstration Center, 257 South Bridge Street, Dimondale

This comprehensive seminar will offer a technical level explanation of how various types of solar heating systems operate, their advantages and disadvantages, and issues regarding deployment in northern climates. Solar domestic hot water systems will be discussed, as well as radiant floor heating systems, space heating with solar heated air panels, and dual mode air systems. Solar pool heating systems will be covered briefly.

Cost: $80 Non-Member / $65 GLREA Members

March 1 – Introductory RE Seminars (9 AM – 5 PM)

Location: Kellogg Center, Michigamme Room, Michigan State University, 55 South Harrison Road, East Lansing

April 12 ? Intermediate Photovoltaic Seminar (9 AM ? 4:30 PM)

Location: GLREA Energy Demonstration Center, 257 S Bridge Street, Dimondale

Students will gain a more in-depth understanding of the components that make up a Photovoltaic (PV) electric system and how PV works. Participants will learn how to: define a load analysis, site selection, energy efficiency measures, techniques, and system sizing.

April 19 ? Intermediate Wind Course (9 AM ? 4:30 PM)

Location: GLREA Energy Demonstration Center, 257 S Bridge St., Dimondale

This course will focus on small business and residential size wind turbines. It will begin with the basics covered in our introductory seminar on wind energy. An overview of the basics of wind energy, types of systems, and turbine siting concerns will be presented. In the remainder of the class turbine technology will be looked at more closely, and some sample systems will be reviewed. The economics of wind systems will also be discussed.

May 17 – Introductory RE Seminars (9 AM – 5 PM)

Location: Pierce Cedar Creek Institute, 701 West Cloverdale Road, Hastings

Location: Manistee County Fairgrounds, 7585 First Street (M-22), Onekama

This 3rd Annual event offers renewable energy and sustainable living education in a fun, festival atmosphere. With over 100 exhibitors, over 70 workshops, renewable energy home tours, an Alternative Vehicle Showcase, local foods, music and more ? don?t miss the largest energy event in Michigan.
