DEARBORN – Recent hiring announcements in the automotive sector are a welcome sign and one that supports the fact that the industry is rebounding. This new hiring and other workforce trends related to the transformation of the automotive industry will be the focus of the Driving Change: Greening the Automotive Workforce conference, May 3-4 at the Ford Conference and Event Center.
There is still time to register to hear speakers representing industry, labor, workforce, and academic organizations who will paint a picture of the future of the industry, what impact technology is having on employment, and how workforce needs are evolving. The event is the capstone of an 18-month U.S. Department of Labor study, and led by the state Labor Market Information Offices in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio in cooperation with the Center for Automotive Research, Case Western University, and Indiana University. The research results will be released at this event.

The event begins May 3 with visits to plants and research facilities that showcase the automotive industry?s green advances. An opening reception, sponsored in part by Kronos Manufacturing, is also planned for May 3 at The Henry Ford Museum.
