SOUTHFIELD – In announcing his budget for the state, Governor Rick Snyder called for shared sacrifice on the part of state and local government to help bridge a $2 billion budget gap. But sharing doesn’t have to be about sacrificing, particularly when what are being shared are services among government entities. That?s the message that will be conveyed at the annual ImageSoft Government Summit in Lansing June 8.

Presented by ImageSoft, the Summit will focus on how sharing services and technology can enable cities and counties to better meet constituent needs and even undertake new initiatives.

During the day-long event, keynote speaker Oakland County Deputy Executive Robert Daddow will discuss how to plan for, launch and successfully implement shared services programs. Daddow, an Oakland County official since 1992, has been involved in multiple successful collaborative projects ? both at the local and county level. His talk, Shared Services ? Politics Versus Reality, will focus on technology, governance, funding, security, and other considerations in undertaking collaborative projects in government. He?ll also highlight some of the shared services programs implemented by Oakland County.

?City and county governments, pressured by diminished budgets and staff, are increasingly wrestling with how to provide basic services to their constituents,? said ImageSoft President Scott Bade. ?At the Summit, they will hear

what others in government have done to address these issues and learn about technology solutions and new approaches ? like collaborating with other government entities ? that will help them achieve their objectives in a more efficient and cost-effective way, even in the face of reduced revenue and staff.?

In addition to the keynote session, the ImageSoft Government Summit will also feature a dozen breakout sessions on a variety of department-specific topics, including accounts payable, human resources, the courts, the prosecutor?s office, and others. Lansing Mayor Virgil Bernero will provide opening remarks.

The Summit, which is free to attend, is geared for state, county and local government officials of all levels and from multiple agencies. It will be held from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the James B. Henry Center for Executive Development and will include continental breakfast and lunch. Participants are also invited to attend a golf outing and Summit welcome dinner on June 7 at the Hawk Hollow Golf Course, in Lansing.
