SOUTHFIELD – Lawrence Technological University is hosting the SparkNewBiz Video Pitch Competition as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Nov. 15-19. Open to all Michigan residents 18 and over, the competition encourages entrepreneurs to take their ideas to the next level with three-minute pitch videos demonstrating the potential of their proposed products.
By Nov. 1, entrants must submit their video pitch and fill out a company profile on the SparkNewBiz group page on PitchCorner.Com, a video-based website where entrepreneurs pitch their new business concepts to the world.
While many competitions offer prize money, a single dollar amount can only take an entrepreneur so far. All SparkNewBiz entries will be reviewed by a panel of investors seeking to be paired with potential start-up companies. Each member of the panel will set up a meeting to discuss the potential of making an investment in the idea they have selected. The goal of the competition is business creation supported by local investors.
Between Nov. 12-15, entrants must post their three-minute pitch video to the site. The winning pitches will be selected Nov. 18 and will be announced at an awards ceremony at Lawrence Tech.
The competition is being held in conjunction with the annual Global Entrepreneurship Week/USA, which takes place Nov. 15-21. It is one of the largest and most active national campaigns for Global Entrepreneurship Week, a rapidly expanding initiative designed to inspire people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. It is a movement built around promoting an entrepreneurial culture, and everyone is encouraged to unleash their ideas for better ways of doing things.
