SOUTHFIELD – Lawrence Technological University will host this year’s only Michigan workshop for Invention to Venture, a national program that teaches technology entrepreneurship basics, helps build business networks and provides a framework for moving ideas to the marketplace.

The I2V workshop will be held Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University Technology and Learning Center on Lawrence Tech?s campus, 21000 West Ten Mile Road in Southfield.

The workshop is for existing and aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners seeking insight from successful entrepreneurs on the process and practice of technology commercialization in a very personal setting.

Sponsors for the workshop at Lawrence Tech are the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC), CyberMichigan, the Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM), WWJ News Radio 950, and the Professional Development Center at Lawrence Tech.

Participating organizations include the Detroit Regional Chamber, Automation Alley, NextEnergy and the Michigan Venture Capital Association.

The National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) started the I2V program several years ago.

General admission is $100, with a $25 discount for participating organizations. Admission is $20 for employees and $10 for students of any Michigan university.
