ANN ARBOR – Architectural Resource and Meadowlark Builders are teaming up to present the next installment of their Behind the Drywall Tour series of LEED Platinum homes on Feb. 13 at the Phoenix House.

Their new home is near zero energy and features solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling, and a plethora of other advanced elements. The highly unusual and specialized building envelope of the home is made to capture and store heat on cold winter days and to remain cool and dry in the summer.

This tour?s feature, The Phoenix House, got its name because it is a rebuilt green re-incarnation of a fifth generation farmstead that was lost to fire in 2008. The 1850 oak timber salvaged from the original home will be re-used as the flooring and trim of the new home. This new home is built to be sustainable and indestructible and will last for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

In this Behind the Drywall Tour, Meadowlark Builders and Architectural Resource will feature a public showcase of the inner workings of the Phoenix Home . A guided tour will take place every hour-on-the-hour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Saturday, February 13th. Each tour can accommodate up to 30 people. Since this is a construction site, boots and appropriate winter attire should be worn.

The Behind the Drywall Tour series has been very popular so a reservation is required. The tour is free. Interested parties can signup for the tour by going to BehindTheDryWall.Com
