LANSING – Liquid Web, already with 37,000 square feet of data center in mid Michigan, is building a third facility that will expand the Internet Service Provider’s floor space by another 90,000 square feet.
A ground breaking ceremony for the $80 million Data Center 3 was held on June 24. Gov. Jennifer Granholm attended.
Construction of the new 90,000 square foot facility has already begun and is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2009. When complete, Data Center 3 will support 25,000 new customer servers in 50,000 square feet of premium data center space and 600 additional Heroic Support?? engineers in 40,000 square feet of new office space. Liquid Web CEO Matt Hill said there are no plans to consolidate the facilities, and all three facilities will be kept open.
Liquid Web has 140 staff members, and is adding 10 a month. Hill said he expects his company to hire an additional 600 employees over the next four years.

Hill said Liquid Web has customers in every state, and in more than 80 countries.
