EAST LANSING – The Mateen Cleaves 1 Goal. 1 Passion: Hope for the Holidays campaign is racing to meet its $1.3 million goal of gifting $1,000 in holiday gifts to 1000 struggling Michigan families this holiday season. He will appear on the Internet Advisor as heard on WJR 760 AM in Detroit Saturday at 3:30 pm to discuss this new charity.
The campaign is asking the public to give to Michigan this holiday season, with a $5 tax deductible donation. The campaign is a joint effort of giving from Mateen Cleaves, and the business, non-profit, sports and entertainment industries in Michigan. They are close to hitting their mark and would love the public?s help to meet their goal with their “5 for 1000” challenge.
Gift distributions will began on December 12 in Grand Rapids and continue through December 22nd – the families will pick up their $1,000 gifts at their local Boys & Girls Clubs in of Lansing, Saginaw, Flint and Detroit. -so there is still time to give.
Each family will receive a holiday package that will include holiday essentials, including basic household needs (electric, gas, water bills paid); holiday experience, including meals and gifts; and life sustainment programs, including counselling to help families find jobs, receive healthcare and learn budgeting and financial planning skills beyond the holidays.
Sponsors and supporting organizations for the initiative include United Way, Habitat for Humanities, FlintPal, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint, Signarama, Whaley Children, Old News Boys, FOX Sports Detroit, CBS Outdoors and Catholic Charities.
