DETROIT – The Michigan International Chamber of Commerce will honor 11 local business owners, corporations, and community leaders at its first Awards Night December 9.

The following companies and individuals have been selected by their peers for their extraordinary dedication to their causes, their self-less devotion to supporting others, and for their community leadership within the Michigan business community.

1. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 COMMUNITY OUTREACH AWARD: Michigan Asian Indian Family Services

2. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Diversity Champion Award: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan

3. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Academic Outreach Award: Walsh College.

4. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Academic Leadership Award: Virinder Moudgil, Oakland University

5. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Champion of the Chamber Award: Dykema Gossett.

6. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Friend of the Chamber Award: Corp! Magazine.

7. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Minority Champion Award: Jay Sandhu of NYX Corporation.

8. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Woman Entrepreneur Award: Neha Patel of Neha Patel Agency.

9. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Community Leader of the Year: Dr. Rajesh Gulati; Michigan Associations of Physicians of India 2009 President

10. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Community Leader of the Year: Dr. Dinesh Shah.

11. Michigan International Chamber of Commerce 2009 Community Service Award: Oakwood Hospital.
