ANN ARBOR – MichBio, the life sciences trade association of Michigan, will host Kenneth Matzick, president and CEO of the Beaumont Hospitals, as the keynote speaker for its 2006 annual meeting, March 8 at the Eagle Crest Conference Center in Ypsilanti.

Kenneth Matzick became Beaumont?s CEO in April 2005, after having served as the organization?s executive vice president and COO since 1997. Beaumont has grown from a single 238-bed hospital opened in 1955 that served tiny Royal Oak, into a two-hospital regional medical center.

“We are pleased to host Mr. Matzick at our annual meeting,” said MichBio Executive Director Dr. Michal Witt. “Beaumont?s research institute is in full swing with 700 active studies and Mr. Matzick will have a great deal to share with our members.”

Also during the MichBio annual meeting, members will vote for new Board and Witt will submit an executive director’s report.

The MichBio Annual Meeting draws up to 150 of the Michigan life sciences industry’s leaders and a who’s who of biotech, pharma and life sciences players from across the state. Registration and networking begin with an open bar at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $75 for members and $100 for non-members.
