ANN ARBOR ? Biotech trade association MichBio will publish a
bi-annual magazine starting in November devoted to chronicling the discoveries, trends, issues and personalities that are shaping Michigan’s
biosciences community.
“An important part of MichBio’s mission is to support our members and
the industry as a whole by disseminating materials that inform, educate and
assist those with a stake in Michigan’s biosciences industry as well as the
general public,” said Stephen Rapundalo, Ph.D., MichBio executive director.
“We believe this new publication will be one more step in helping to build
the state’s bioscience community.”
The first edition of BioMatters will be issued November 5 just prior to
the 2008 MichBio Expo and Conference on Nov. 18 and 19 in Novi.
Distribution will be by mail to more than 5,000 addresses including
Michigan biosciences companies and service providers, state and regional
funding sources, economic development organizations, universities and
research institutions. It will include stories on the wide array of
clinical research being done in the state; growth of contract research
sector; companies that are finding funding within the state and how they
attracted it; and more.
The magazine’s second edition will be published in May 2009 and, in
addition to editorial content, will include the Michigan Biosciences
Directory and Resource Guide, a listing of all of Michigan biosciences
companies, resources such as economic development organizations,
SmartZones, funding sources and MichBio member service providers to
the industry.
