LANSING – The Michigan Chamber of Commerce will be launching a statewide private health insurance marketplace at the start of September, it announced Tuesday, to help meet growing demand from employers as they try to comply with health the Affordable Care Act.
“Regardless of what happens with the Affordable Care Act, Michigan will soon have an easy-to-use, single destination for individuals, business owners, and the agents advising them, to access the quality, affordable insurance plans they need without the confusion and headaches,” said Jason Russell, senior director of insurance services for the Chamber, in a statement.
The group directed interested parties to its YouTube video about the marketplace.
Beginning September 1, individuals and employers can work with their licensed insurance agent of choice and have a single source, multi-carrier insurance solution for comparing and accessing available medical, dental, vision and supplemental insurance plans, Barry Robinson, vice president of Chamber services and membership development, said.
The marketplace will also have calculators available to help determine federal subsidy eligibility and potential tax consequences for those failing to enroll in qualified plans, the Chamber said.
