ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Biosciences Legislative Caucus kicks off 2011 with new leadership and scheduled quarterly meetings, MichBio, the state life sciences trade association reported.
The body will be led by Sens. Rebekah Warren (D-Ann Arbor, a founding co-chair) and Tonya Schuitmaker (R-Kalamazoo), and Reps. Gail Haines (R-Waterford) and Roy Schmidt (Grand Rapids) in the House.
The BLC will host its first quarterly breakfast meeting from 8:30-9:30 am on Wednesday, March 2 at the Capitol. The event is open to all legislators. This “meet-and-learn” will introduce the group’s purpose to new legislators and discuss potential topics for future programs. Also, MichBio will present a Biosciences Action Plan to legislators to familiarize them with the opportunities and challenges in growing state’s bio-industry.
