MIDLAND ? Mid Michigan Innovation Center will host a Bootstrappers Breakfast at its Midland headquarters on Aug. 13. The event allows entrepreneurs from early-stage tech companies to share knowledge and experiences gained through their business development. The breakfast will feature special guest Travis Johnson, the founder of foodjunky, a startup that provides a simpler way to order food for large meetings.
Bootstrappers Breakfasts originated just over a decade ago in Silicon Valley and now take place throughout the U.S. ?Bootstrapping? is a technique for creating a self-sustaining computer program from scratch ? when applied to startups, the term relates to fueling growth through means other than investment, such as customer revenue. Bootstrappers Breakfasts help attendees gain knowledge needed for this ?organic? growth.
