ANN ARBOR – Mobile Monday Ann Arbor will hold a panel
discussion about the two main conferences in the mobile world (just after they
happen), Google I/O and Apple’s WWDC.
Starting at 6:30pm, we’ll have free food sponsored by
Verizon – Wireless Zone. See their special offer for MoMo members in the
sponsor section of this page. Please RSVP to help us estimate how much
food we need. While you are enjoying the food, talk with other developers and
network in the local mobile community.
The main meeting will start at 7pm. Mobile Michigan
Monday will spend 15 minutes talking about the featured app and then move on to
the panel discussion about the two conferences, wrapping things up around
8:30pm.
Featured App:
UMSkinCheck-UMSkinCheck is an iPhone and iPad
app that encourages and facilitates skin self-examinations for the purpose of
skin cancer detection, especially the early detection of melanoma. While
melanoma only accounts for 2 percent of skin cancers, it is responsible for the vast
majority of skin cancer deaths. Being familiar with your skin and your risk
factors, and performing self-skin examinations are critical, because when
melanoma is found and treated early, the chances for long term survival are
excellent. UMSkinCheck allows users to complete a full body photographic
survey so that they have a reference library of their skin to help detect new
or changing lesions. The app delivers regular reminders to perform self-skin
exams and gives step-by-step instructions. When a new lesion is identified, the
app allows the user to photograph and compare to prior photographs, gives
instructions on what to look for and when to contact a dermatologist, and sends
notifications to check on lesions being tracked. The app also provides
information on skin cancer, sun safety and includes a melanoma risk calculator.
